Storm door string thing

by Yolanda

My storm door had some kind of string come out. I had to cut it off to keep people from tripping on it. Since it came out I can't lower the glass. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hi Yolanda;

I'm guessing the string is the weatherstripping thats all around the glass frame or sash that lifts up and down.

Without the weatherstripping the frame is catching somewhere and stopping it from opening.

Try jiggling the sash from side to side as you try to open it. Hopefully it will let go.

Will need to remove the sash to see where the weatherstrip is missing. Then take it to a glass shop to see if they have a replacement.

Many of my customers refer to the finseal weatherstrip found on old patio doors, windows and storms as string.

When its old and worn out and flopping around it looks a lot like strin.
