E2014 mortise lock with escutcheon plate

E2014 mortise lock with escutcheon plate

Hi. We are renting a house that came with a broken slider latch. I would like to replace it and with one that is keyed so we can access the house through this door which is on the back where we park the car. Please help me identify what model I need as there are 3 screws up and 3 down with a part that is more inside than the bigger frame.

Hi Cris;

You just need to replace the handle set with a keyed version

Here is an example of one available on Amazon:

The lock itself is an Prime Line E2014 mortise lock. This is purchased separately from the handle.

Your existing lock has an oval shaped escutcheon plate screwed on to the front of the lock

You can use that again on a new lock, makes it cheaper to buy just the new mortise lock

Here is E2014 lock on Amazon:

Bear in mind that these locks are not that secure, a thief can easily break in with a large screwdriver by levering the door open.

It does not matter if you have a keyed lock or the regular one they are both as vulnerable.
