grille for mobile home storm door

by Glenda
(Slidell, La)

We have a storm door that is half glass and half screen on the outside with a glass panel on the inside that we can raise for air. There is an outside cat that we feed on the porch and when she is hungry she scratches on the lower part of the screen. We need some type of grille to cover this and are having problems finding one that fits because we have a mobile home. Any suggestions on this issue?

Hi Glenda;

Some storm doors have glass and screen panels that can be swapped around

You can flip the panels upside down and install the screen at the top of the door and the glass at the bottom

That will solve the dog scratching problem and keep the screen so you can get a breeze when you need it

The glass sash that slides up on the inside will not latch in place all the way to the top, so the screen will always be open a little bit at the top

Some people dont find that to be too much of a problem because they still have the main door that closes to keep the weather out

I have perforated aluminum that I cut to the size of the screen if its not possible to move the screen up

That stops pets scratching on the outside

Hope this helps
