Glazing Vinyl not right size

I have a home with old style track storm windows installed over

single hung windows.

I am looking for splining material to repair some broken glass.

it looks like the glass in some units is thicker due to the glass size and
the spline that can be bought locally is too thick and won't permit
the channel to seat.

Would you have something extremely thin to fit over the panes to let the channel
work?

Sounds like you are talking about glazing vinyl not screen spline

As you have discovered, the vinyl has to match the channel and the thickness of the glass

Glass shops stock different sizes of glazing vinyl its not something you would be likely to find in Lowes or Home Depot
