Broken plastic screen door bottom track
by: Adrian

Hi Keith;

Thanks for the picture.

My standard bottom track is 72 inches, I am guessing UPS would want at least $100 to ship a 96 inch length to Torrance California

The simplest solution I can think of is to get a 96 inch long piece of 1/8 thick aluminum strip. I am guessing it needs to be 1 inch wide.

One place to look for these strips would be Metals Supermarket, there must be aluminum suppliers around Torrance that deal with local metal fabrication and welding shops.

You might even be able to pick a piece of scrap up for free

To get the actual width measure from bottom of that channel to the top of the existing track. Strips usually come in widths of 3/4" , 1" or 1-1/2". Hopefully you can find something close.

If you find something slightly smaller you could put small spacers underneath to push the track up to where it needs to be

Put the strip in the channel and center it all along with small spacers. Then fill the gap on each side with fine grout or mortar or fine cement.

You could use strips of pvc plastic instead of grout to center the center the track but then you have to hunt around for plastic scraps too.

Hope this helps
