We have a fairly new screen door which started to lock us out because the latch would just drop. How can I tighten it? I am totally useless when it comes to fixing these types of problem.

Would be great if you could post a picture of the lock with views from front and back.
A lot of the time the strike just needs to be adjusted. Its the metal part mounted on the door frame that the lock snaps into.
If the strike is sticking out too far it can prevent the door from opening. If its in too much the door may not latch at all.
Need to experiment with putting thinner spacers behind it to get it just right.
