I am trying to replacing the lock on our sliding door. I removed the screws but the knob is attached to the mechanism (latch). When I try to slide out the latch it is attached to the knob. I gently tried to pry the cover on the door that the knob is on but it won't budge. It suggestions?
Pictures would be a great help here but check the knob to see if there are any tiny set screws or allen screws
Usually the latch knob and shaft is part of the handle assembly and when you pull the two screws holding the handle on to the frame, the latch knob and handle comes off together
It might just be that the handle has been on for a long time and is stuck to the frame. A bit of jiggling should make it break free
