Double-Checking #Screen Door Measurement

Top of door frame. I measured from the top of the channel - where key is pointing

Hello,

I'm just writing to double check that I measured the height of my potential new screen door kit correctly. I'm interested in a sliding screen for an older, custom-sized sliding patio door. Please see the photos. I measured from the top of the channel (on top of door frame), down to the top of the rib atop which the rollers would slide on the bottom of the door frame - highlighted in red in the photo.

This gave me a measurement of 79-5/8 in. If I then subtract 1/4-in. from that measurement (as suggested), I come up with a total height of 79-3/8 in. Width of sliding glass door is 48 in.

So 79-3/8 in. x 48 in. If this seems correct, I'll go ahead with my order. Many thanks.

Ed P

Hi Ed;

I would go with 79-1/8" height for the screen door, you need a little space at the top for the rollers to poke out and ride along the top track with spring pressure.

Other than that all looks fine

Why subtract 1/4

Sounds to me like he did exactly as instructed.
Why are you suggesting removing an extra 1/4"?

Ok thanks - just to ensure you read the photo correctly, there's just an empty channel at the top of the door frame--the rollers wouldn't be riding on any sort of "rib" like at the bottom.

Thanks,

E
